FTTP removes the need for a copper-based network in line with BT’s plans to future-proof UK connectivity.

Ethernet Broadband can be connected over a short distance to cable cabinets in the street, this is known as Ethernet over Fibre to the Cabinet or ‘EoFTTC’. In standard broadband, the copper line then continues all the way to the exchange, but EoFTTC travels across a shared fibre optic circuit to the exchange, offering internet speeds of up to 76Mbps.
